Directions/Parking

From the North 
Town of Waterford, NYTake the Northway (I 87) south to Exit 8A. Turn left onto Grooms Road (eastbound.) Continue on Grooms and cross over Route 9. Road will become Guideboard Road, and then Middletown Road. Continue on Middletown Road into the Village of Waterford. Total distance on Grooms/ Guideboard/ Middletown Road will be about 6.5 miles from the Northway.

Middletown Road becomes 6th Street in the Village of Waterford. Turn right at the end of 6th Street, onto Broad Street. Follow Broad Street as it curves to the left, crosses the Erie Canal, and becomes Saratoga Avenue. Take your first left onto Burton Ave (signs for Ursula and Garret Field) and pass over the small bridge crossing the original Champlain Canal. Take your first left into the Town of Waterford Highway Department facility, where parking will be provided. It’s a two block walk to the waterfront and bus service will be provided.

From the North (locally)
Proceed south on Route 4. Route 4 becomes Hudson River Road south of Mechanicville. Hudson River Road becomes 3rd Street in the Village of Waterford. Take your first left after entering the Village of Waterford, at the Waterford Public Library. Take another left onto 2nd Street, and an immediate right into the Waterford Water Works parking lot. It is a five block walk to the waterfront and bus service will be provided. This lot is about 6 miles south of Mechanicville.

As an option, you can continue south on 3rd Street and park along the street, or take a right onto Broad Street at the junction of Routes 4 and 32 and proceed to the Waterford Highway Department facility using directions provided above.

From the South
Proceed north on I 787 north. (I 787 north is accessed from Exit 23 on the New York State Thruway.) Proceed to end of I 787 and turn right onto Saratoga Avenue (you will see a bank and a Burger King at this intersection.) Proceed over Union Bridge crossing Mohawk River into Waterford. Proceed north along Saratoga Avenue for approximately two miles. Just after the historic Waterford Rural Cemetery on the left, take a right onto Burton Avenue (signs for Ursula and Garret Field) and pass over small bridge crossing the original Champlain Canal. Take your first left into the Town of Waterford Highway Department facility, where parking will be provided. It’s a two block walk to the waterfront and bus service will be provided.

From the West
West on the New York State Thruway to Exit 24. North on Northway (I 87) to exit 8A. Take right onto Grooms Road, then follow the directions for “From the North.”

From the West (locally)
Take Route 7 west to I 787. North on I 787, then follow directions for “From the South.”

From the East
Proceed west along Route 7 to I 787 north. Then follow directions for “From the South.”

From the East (locally)
Take Oakwood Avenue or Route 40 to Oil Mill Hill, proceed down hill to 2nd Avenue. (Or access 2nd Avenue north from anywhere in Troy.) Take right onto 2nd Avenue and first left onto 126th Street. Proceed over bridge and take second right onto 2nd Street. Proceed north for 3 blocks and then turn right into Waterford Water Works parking lot, where parking will be provided. It’s a 5 block walk to the waterfront and bus service will be provided.

By Boat
Proceed north, south, or east to Waterford on the NYS Canal System or the Hudson River. Free docking with some power will be available at Erie Lock 3 in Waterford on the Waterford Flight. There is approximately 600 feet of available wall with a 1 to 2 foot freeboard. It’s a 6 block walk to the waterfront and bus service will be provided.

Note: On street parking may be scarce for this event, so the satellite lots are provided for your convenience. Buses will not run after 8 PM any night of the event. Vessels should not plan on docking in the festival area below Lock 2. This area is reserved for participating vessels only. The Lock 3 docking area is provided for your convenience.
